Conversation with Our Local Police Chiefs

On Monday, March 28 about 25 NIA members & invited guests gathered with police chiefs from Brewster, Chatham, Harwich, Eastham, Wellfleet and Provincetown (Police Chief Calise of Truro was off Cape that morning and unable to attend) to discuss their ongoing partnership with the MLK Action Team and the hot topic of local police involvement in federal policies regarding our immigrant neighbors.   When asked for one comment “take aways” from their morning with the chiefs,  comments included: “I have better understanding of these complicated topics but also more confidence in our officers”; “:Thoughtful conversations without rancor”; and “it’s clear from speaking with them [police chiefs present] that policing is not just a job – they really care about it”
