Juneteenth Celebrated in Brewster

Members of the MLK Action Team and their partners on the Conversations with Police Task Force were happy to be part of the Juneteenth Festival that a coordinating committee of the Brewster’s Ladies Library organized.  In the picture above are Jeff Spalter, chair of the Conversations with Police Task Force, Officer and soon to be Chief of Harwich Police, Kevin Considine, MLK Team members Wesley Williams, chair emeritus,  Barbara Gibson and current chair, Karen Boujoukos.  (Not shown in the photo but also participating in the festivities were MLK member Becky Alden and Brewster Chief of Police Heath Eldredge).  Sharing our commitment to racial justice and our goal of helping the Cape become a kinder, more equitable place for all, we offered families the opportunity to paint a “Kindness Rock”.  Below are some of our artists:

And of course the opportunity to chat with several of the local police chiefs was too exciting to pass up.
