88 degrees in the afternoon, but we hadn’t yet been to the MLK Memorial so that was our first stop after the morning tour. Beautiful walk past the Washington Monument, around some of the tidal basin to the Memorial.
Then a visit to the Lincoln Memorial with it’s awesome view and inspiring words engraved on either side of his statue. In the evening we walked to the White House via Black Lives Matter Plaza.
I love DC and could spend so much more time here. The Smithsonians alone could take weeks to see well. The city has made a lot of progress in including Black American history since I lived here decades ago. Or maybe I just wasn’t looking for it then. Tomorrow, Monticello and their Freedom to Slavery tour.
